Changes to TFU Handbook - SEPTEMBER 2025 - RTFO and Policy Updates
Upon clicking "Submit" on this stage, you will be reviewed for suitability. TFU Command, Our OS And AS Branched assistants, or our Line Manager will check your record for any infractions. If you have any reprimands, Please contact TFU Command via the helpdesk with guidance on if this will bar you from entry to TFU. Infractions older than 30 days will not be considered as barring unless incredibly serious offenses that resulted in a TFU Blacklist.
You will be asked a few written questions, putting you in command of several TFU incidents, as well as multiple-choice questions. You should read all information available to you during this situation and answer with straight-to-the-point, step-by-step walkthroughs on what you and your team of mentioned colleagues should do to resolve the situation in the best way possible, making use of equipment, Tactics and communication.
General advice for a good TFU application:
Overelaborating on some points might result in you missing another crucial bit of info. Keep it straight to the point with necessary detail
You aren't just marked on what you think you would personally do; you must also state how your team should behave, as you are answering this as the Leader of the group. Quite often, even Senior Officers are finding themselves leading newer TFOs.
This stage is to confirm that you are ready to do your practical. Once you submit your stage 3 section, you agree to the following terms:
By submitting, you agree to provide your availability within 72 hours of receiving the PM message. Failure to do so may result in your application being denied at the discretion of TFU Command.
If you fail to attend a scheduled session without prior notice and a valid reason, despite having confirmed your availability for that date, TFU Command reserves the right to reject your application.
You will be contacted and grouped with 2 other applicants (Or training staff in the absence of such applicants) and put through a 2-part examination. The first half is your Equipment assessment. You will be expected to:
Demonstrate Effective knowledge in using stun grenades in both a synchronised breach and using the Flashbang as a diversionary device to make entry to a choke point covered by a rifleman. Both times, you will receive a demonstration on such.
Demonstrate you are capable of Explosive Ordnance Disposal by performing an emergency search of a residential building and evacuating it, designating a blast zone, and disposing of it effectively.
Demonstrate you are able to use a sniper rifle and take the shot when appropriate.
That you are Capable of, as both a Driver and passenger, performing a reinforced stop on a van full of suspect gunmen, some of whom will test your situational awareness and restraint by failing to abide by your requests under gunpoint in both violent and nonviolent resistance.
That you can respond to an Armed Burglary of a residential building before the Home invaders can harm the resident.
That you and your team are capable of resolving a hostage situation involving explosives under circumstances which will force you to attempt to strike a deal rather than shoot.
That you are capable of executing a Search Warrant on a slums apartment by neutralising all armed threats.
IMPORTANT: Any officers who are seen to violate SOPs and/or policies while taking their practical will be subject to failing their application if deemed significant enough, regardless of their marks under the Tactical Firearms Fault System (TFFS). Click here for more info
This is the same thing as your Stage 1, basically; however, we will also consider your Conduct between application and reaching Stage 5, any new infractions you receive, and if your application was marked correctly.
This stage will also review any faults that have been highlighted during your practical stage. Here, the faults are classified as one of the following:
Void - There is no reason to suggest that a fault violation occurred, and the fault would not be considered
Exonerated - The action occurred, but was not deemed to violate any SOPs/TFU policies, and therefore, the fault would not be considered
Minor Fault - The action was deemed a minor violation of SOPs/TFU policies
Major Fault - The action was deemed a major violation of SOPs/TFU policies; the user automatically fails their TFU application
